The County recognized 31 men and women from 19 Fire Departments at the County’s Firefighter 1 graduation ceremony on Thursday night at the 911 Emergency Services Center. Highland Falls had three members, Roger Waufle, Jacob Sibley & Joshua Keena. Josh was identified by his instructors as the top student and leader of this class, was made IC and received the Top Rung Award for his efforts. This is not the first fire fighters from Highland Falls that have been recognized with this achievement.

Firefighter 1 is a comprehensive and intensive introductory course required to become an Interior Firefighter. The course is comprised of 129 classroom hours and additional take home assignments. It takes a special person to become a firefighter and requires a large time commitment and the support of instructors, fire departments, friends and most importantly family to get thru it. When you see any of these three men congratulate them on their completion of this achievement.
